“Even men were made from 'real estate.' You have gotten yourself for free. Your wealth lies therein...”

The Beginning of a Vision

The story of Tweak Real Estate began with a moment of prayer, uncertainty, and a sincere desire to understand God's purpose for my life.

At the time, I was unemployed and had not yet gained admission into school. As I prayed, I experienced a strong and unmistakable conviction: real estate. The words came to me repeatedly, and although I knew very little about the industry, I took the conviction seriously.

After that experience, I began making inquiries, asking questions, and learning from people already established in the field. That was how my journey into real estate began.

We started through a real estate firm known as Kachgani Properties, focusing primarily on rental properties, including two-bedroom flats, three-bedroom flats, and self-contained apartments. Through these transactions, we earned commissions and gradually gained experience.

Recognising the demand for housing, I began investing in outdoor advertising, particularly billboards and advertisements at strategic junctions. My goal was simple: to reach more people, attract customers, and build a steady stream of clients seeking accommodation and property.

The journey was not easy. It took two full years before I sold my first property. Those years were a period of persistence, learning, and doing what was necessary to keep the business going.

The First Breakthrough

My first major financial breakthrough came when Living Faith Church needed a property for the construction of a church at Upper Iwe. Closing that transaction marked an important turning point in my journey and brought my first million naira in earnings.

Before then, I had been operating from a very humble location. I would carry a plastic table, sit outside a church along Nskpenekpe, and attend to clients who called to meet with me. Whenever someone contacted me, I would simply tell them I was at the church and invite them over.

It was not a conventional office, but it was where I conducted business and served my customers faithfully.

Following that breakthrough, I rented my first office at Valley Plaza, 145 MM Way. It was a significant milestone, representing progress from humble beginnings towards building a more structured business.

During this period, we explored other business opportunities, including visa application services. However, after encountering difficulties in those ventures, I felt led to focus more intentionally on real estate. At the time, I was also serving as a full-time pastor, travelling to villages and carrying out ministry work. Balancing ministry and business required discipline, but I continued to trust God for direction.

Lessons from Early Challenges

As the business grew, we encountered challenges that tested our resolve and commitment to our customers.

One of our early experiences involved an estate development opportunity along the Eke-Awor Road area. We entered into an agreement with the landowner and began selling plots to customers. Unfortunately, the landowner later sold the same estate to another person despite our existing agreement.

By then, we had already sold plots to approximately 15 customers. We were faced with the difficult responsibility of protecting our reputation and addressing the concerns of people who had trusted us.

After persistent appeals, the money was eventually refunded. At the time, I was deeply troubled because our name and credibility were at stake. We had advertised the property publicly, and I understood the responsibility that came with the trust our customers had placed in us.

Rather than give up, I began searching for another estate that could accommodate the affected customers.

We subsequently acquired land around Airport Road and began selling plots there. As the business progressed, we acquired additional estates. Eventually, we also returned to the earlier community to secure another estate and provide an alternative for customers affected by the initial setback.

However, another major challenge emerged when we discovered that the land around Airport Road had been taken over by the government. Several people had already built on the land, and some of our own structures were affected when the government carried out demolitions.

This experience brought considerable difficulties, but we worked to relocate some customers while others waited for the situation to be resolved. In time, a subsequent government administration granted us a setback, giving us reason to be grateful even after such a difficult experience.

These events taught me valuable lessons about due diligence, resilience, responsibility, and the importance of standing by customers through difficult circumstances.

A New Chapter and an Unexpected Crisis

In 2022, we decided to diversify into excavation, bringing investors into the business. We believed in the opportunity and worked to build something that could create value for everyone involved.

Unfortunately, circumstances beyond our control contributed to the collapse of that business. The financial consequences were enormous, and our liabilities rose to over ₦886 million.

₦886M

Liabilities faced at the peak of the crisis.

What followed was one of the most difficult periods of my life and business journey.

We faced investigations, police invitations, legal proceedings, and multiple court cases. Our office became a place of constant tension as we dealt with demands from creditors and investors. At different times, staff members were arrested, office property was seized, and our business operations were severely disrupted.

The experience went beyond financial losses. It affected me personally, my staff, and the people who depended on the business. Even ordinary activities, such as going out to eat, could become uncomfortable because of public accusations and embarrassment.

For almost three years, we endured these challenges. There were people who advised us to leave everything behind and run away. However, I believed that the right thing to do was to remain, face the situation, and work towards fulfilling our obligations.

We chose to stay and fight because we believed that debts must be paid and commitments must be honoured.

Although the situation was overwhelming, my faith in God remained a source of strength. We began selling some of our properties and assets to raise funds and repay those affected. Over time, we made progress in settling our obligations.

“Integrity is not demonstrated only when business is thriving. It is also revealed in how we respond when everything seems to be falling apart.”

It was a painful season, but it reinforced my conviction that integrity is not demonstrated only when business is thriving. It is also revealed in how we respond when everything seems to be falling apart.

Rebuilding with Purpose

The challenges we experienced in the excavation business also affected our real estate operations. We faced difficulties with property allocations, and some customers began requesting refunds for properties they had purchased from us.

We found ourselves working to meet two major responsibilities: repaying investors and addressing the concerns of our property customers.

Despite these difficulties, we continued working towards a resolution. We have repaid many of the investors, with a few obligations remaining as of 2026. We are also placing some of our assets and properties on the market to raise funds towards clearing the outstanding obligations.

Our goal is to become completely debt-free by 2027. We continue to work towards that goal with faith, determination, and a commitment to seeing the process through.

Today, our operations and property interests extend across Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Asaba, and Benin. Over the years, we have also expanded our interests beyond real estate into excavation and oil and gas, while exploring opportunities in the automobile industry.

Our journey has not been without mistakes, disappointments, or difficult lessons. We have experienced the uncertainty of starting small, the excitement of major breakthroughs, the pain of unexpected losses, and the responsibility of rebuilding after a crisis.

Through it all, we have continued to trust God for wisdom, strength, and direction.

Our Story Continues

Tweak Real Estate is more than a business that began with a desire to succeed in the property industry. It is a story of faith, perseverance, responsibility, and the determination to keep moving forward despite adversity.

From sitting outside a church with a plastic table to establishing an office, from waiting two years to close our first property deal to navigating significant business challenges, every stage of this journey has shaped who we are today.

I have learned that success is not simply about how much a business acquires or how quickly it grows. It is also about the values that guide its decisions, the people it serves, and the courage to take responsibility when things do not go as planned.

Our story is still unfolding. We remain committed to rebuilding, meeting our obligations, growing responsibly, and pursuing opportunities that create lasting value.

Above all, I remain grateful to God for sustaining us through every season. What began as a conviction during prayer has become a journey of learning, service, and perseverance.

This is our story: a journey built on faith, tested by adversity, and sustained by the determination to rise again.
